Electricians in Macarthur
Macarthur is one of the smallest suburbs in Tuggeranong, tucked north of Isabella Drive between Fadden, Gilmore and Chisholm. Part of it is taken up by the Wanniassa Hills Nature Reserve, and there are no shops in the suburb at all, so it stays quiet and residential.
The homes are what make Macarthur different. Almost every one is a separate house, and about seven in ten have four or more bedrooms, which is well above the Tuggeranong norm. Bigger houses mean bigger loads, longer cable runs and more rooms to light and cool, and that shows in what people ask us for.
Macarthur homes and what they need
The suburb was named in 1982 after John Macarthur, the pioneer of the merino wool industry, and the first residents moved in during 1983. Its streets keep to a wool theme. Many homes have been extended or renovated since they were built.
A house from the early 1980s that has grown over time often has a board that grew with it. We regularly see sub-boards added for an extension, safety switches on some circuits but not others, and a main switchboard close to full. None of that stops an upgrade, but it does mean we look at the whole system before adding an EV charger or a set of new circuits.
The other local factor is the reserve. Homes on the edge of Wanniassa Hills look out over open bushland, with walking tracks running past back fences. Outdoor lighting on those blocks gets plenty of use, and external wiring needs to be in good order.
